It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
